Science Communication

I began a Youtube channel with the goal of introducing new concepts of environmental science and chemistry to the public as a way to improve scientific communication and outreach. I also dedicated part of the channel to helping students get into higher education and succeed. This work evolved into other forms of multimedia science communication including the publication of the book plastics. Acknowledgement for this work was recognized in 2024 with the “Research Scientist: Early Career” award, one of 24 that comprise the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications.

NSBE Mentor

I have been a member of the National Society of Black Engineers since 2015 and was granted the opportunity to make a difference as Vice President of my undergraduate chapter. At Duke I continued to participate as a mentor and member of the Duke NSBE chapter. (Picture: Volunteering as a recruit for Duke Graduate School of Engineering.)

Sensor Academy

As a Sensor Saturday Academy mentor 2017-2019, I worked with 8th graders in the Durham area to teach them math and engineering principles. They learned the principles associated to sensors that study water quality.
